Things don't always happen the way you want

My fellow colleague, an Indian 'Boy' used to be my subordinate and trained by me when he first came to Singapore in the area of IT skill I am doing now, we both worked for a small local setup.

For some reasons he left the company and advanced his career elsewhere. I left the company too soon after 911. I didn't have my full-time job before the epidemic SARS propagated in year 2003 until I was introduced to his employer in year 2005, I was surprised that how much he has advanced and he become the person I directly reported to. We both reported to the same other bosses too.

We were both contract staff to the same employer and assigned to work in the same government office. We were parted again a year later and settled in different worksite due to government contract ended. We were assigned to the bosses that we "DON'T LIKE" due to personality conflict – He preferred to work with my boss and the reverse is true too.

After worked for the boss for some time, I found my value in the company start to decrease, due to more and more arguments and conflicts happen daily with the boss and degraded in performance.
It is the adverse condition that makes me re-think of my value and start changing myself to attend courses for personal enrichment and value add.

I might be comfortable and contented to what I have before, but it was the adversity that makes me grow and become a better person than I was.

Things don't always happen the way you want, but you are not always at the losing end. To me, it is at least a gain, for now - see my blog 2 days ago for what I have gained from it. If I am as comfortable as before, I don't think I will be taking effort to advance myself.
